How does Flapper Check Valve work?
The flapper check valve works on the differential pressure principle. This is the position to which the valve disc opens depending on the suction pressure level. The inlet pressure needs to be high to provide enough force to force the disc fully open. The suction pressure is provided by the pump. Once the valve is open, the fluid continues to flow through the flapper check valve until the pump pressure begins to decrease. At the instant the fluid pressure decreases or the pump stops, the disc returns to the seat position, ensuring there is no reverse fluid flow. Fluid backflow can damage plumbing equipment such as pumps or boilers, and can also contaminate liquids such as water and beverages.
