Angle Globe Valve Functional Design

An angle valve features an inlet and outlet perpendicular to each other, enabling it to function as an elbow in tight spaces. It uses linear motion to control flow by moving a closure member against a seat. Commonly used in boiler feed water and heater drainage services, angle valves are also found in residential plumbing to control water supply to fixtures. Their design can include features to reduce wear from corrosion, flashing, or cavitation.

Type of Angle Globe Valve

The globe valve is a mechanical control valve used to regulate flow and pressure. Globe valves are available in a variety of styles and forms and have many potential applications in regulating both.
Angle stop valves feature an innovative design that allows for a smaller pressure drop and fewer installation accessories than standard stop valves.

The Y-angle globe valve is a variant of the standard Z-body globe valve with a seat and stem Angle of approximately 45 degrees to create a straighter fluid path and reduce pressure loss.Y-type cut-off seats can be made of soft or metal materials, depending on their application and temperature range; Soft seats are generally suitable for low temperature systems up to 60°C, while metal seats are used for high temperature systems above this threshold.

Straight Angle globe valves can switch the flow direction by 90 degrees without the use of elbows or additional pipe welding, and provide a lower pressure drop than standard globe valves. They are particularly suitable for applications involving intermittent flow, as they are able to control their pulse effects without getting stuck on or off over time.
Angle valves should generally be installed with their outlet pipe facing down, thereby reducing the likelihood of fluid blockage or corrosion over time.

Working Principle of Angle Globe Valve

Angle globe valves are designed to meticulously regulate the flow of fluids or gases within a pipeline. They achieve this by employing a movable disc, often referred to as a stopper or plug, which precisely controls the opening of the port. The distinctive slanted body of these valves is a key design feature, allowing for their installation in areas where space is at a premium, thus offering a solution for compact piping arrangements.

The operational mechanism involves a stem connected to the disc. This stem can be manipulated, typically via a handwheel or an actuator, to rotate the disc. This rotation either opens or closes the valve. In the open position, the disc is lifted away from its seat, permitting unrestricted passage of the fluid or gas from the inlet. Conversely, when the valve is in the closed position, the disc is moved towards the seat, creating a seal that effectively blocks the flow.
