They are used in air, gas and steam service, natural gas and oil pipeline systems, food processing, non-abrasive slurries, vacuum, pharmaceutical service, and vacuum to high pressure applications. They are suitable for on-off valves, diverter services, and moderate throttling. Plug valves were originally designed to replace gate valves because the quarter-turn action of the plug valve can easily open and close the flow compared to the gate valve.

2:SJ Plug Valve are generally suitable for low-pressure and low-temperature services. Plug valves with materials such as poly tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in the valve body lining can be used in corrosive chemical services.
